This a very creepy tone. It is the tone that happens right before shocking, when a character realizes he's not alone in the room. You know something bad is going to happen, and it's scariest when you don't know exactly what.
An ideal example for this tone is the movie Final Destination. In it there are several scenes when different characters are alone and you know he or she is predestined to die from some accident (because he cheated death once, you have to see the movie), but you don't know how. It is very nerve-racking but very entertaining. Everything is silent, and the music gets very quiet and creepy. |  |
