Contemptuous

- scornful; feeling or expressing contempt (the state of mind of one who dispises)

The definition pretty much says it. The individual has a deep rooted bitterness towards the subject and is letting it all out. Justified or unjustified, the individual will hurl penetrating personal insults at the subject, and often verbally state, with very enraged language, his contempt. You don't want to be the subject of someone with an enraged tone.

An example of this comes from Benjamin Franklin's, "Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America." In it he shows his contempt toward the Swedish ministry with detail, the selective inclusion of quotes. He never actually makes an insult or statement of his hatred. With this method he is able to draw the reader into sharing his feelings. He first makes fun of the missionary with the Indian's comment, "It is indeed bad to eat apples," about the minister's telling of our first parents eating the apple. He later shows his feeling that the missionary is rude and a snob with the his quote, "...what you tell me is mere fable, fiction, and falsehood." With the inclusion of these quotes Fraklin makes his deep hatred toward the missionary, and maybe all missionaries, very obvious.

Example: "Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America"
