Detached

- aloof, impartial

Detached is a simple tone that means the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It is the main tone in any nonfictional piece. There is no opinion. It is often seen in history books and in newspapers. It is a very bland, boring tone, not recommended for entertainment.

Any newspaper article is a good display of a detached tone. Reading a front-page article, it is just fact after fact after fact. The only opinions are seen in quotes. The only opinions in an entire newspaper are in the comic and dear abbey sections. A newspaper article is simply for informing, not for entertaining.
